This Video I So HELPFUL and insight to a great producers techniques to say the least!
This Debut album from icicle on the Shogun Audio imprint has been a long time in the coming and for good reason. This album is one like no other that I have heard from an artist in a long time. It mostly spans dubstep and dnb, however it isnt your normal bass music. The album def stays true to the ShogunAudio sound and def deservses a purchase!
Heres the Latest Addison Groove vinyl released on Pinch's Tectonic label. I have to say...this is prob one of the catchiest releases I have had the pleasure of hearing in a long time. I love it so much, I'de much rather just have you listen to it, then listen to me talk about it.
So im goin to start posting @ least 1 new release that I have bought recently every tuesday. This weeks latest hot-ish is the latest Back & 4th compilation from the based UK label, Hotflush. Since Ive already sited most of the albums I have bought with in the past couple months like 2562 - Fever and Instra:mental - Resolution 653, I havent had too many full length albums to point out, however this one definetly deserves a mention. Its a 20 track compliation sporting tunes from the likes of Scuba, Boddika, Sepalcure, Boxcutter, dBridge and more. Im also sure that Scuba or whoever named the release didnt do it for nothing becuase the tunes go back and fourth between main room dance tracks to chill summer tunes. Its def a great rollercoaster ride as one listens to the double disk release from front to back. Here are some samples of the compliation on soundcloud.
On April 4th, 2562's new album drops and it's going to be a big one! With his great ability to encompass multiple genres in his muisc, 2562 spans boundries from disco to dubstep and everything inbetween on this album. From the clips below, it looks like theres something for everyone to enjoy, wether its on the dancefloor or at home. Enough from me let the music speak for itself.

This week Im going to BigUp a couple more tunes from artists that some of you probably havent heard of yet. First is one up is one I posted about last week, Dj Earl. Dj Earl is a up and coming juke/footwork producer from Chicago. He has some tunes released on teh Ghettophiles label, which you can find on Beatport. that I recently started listening to. His tunes are very melodic but fast passed, creating a perfect dancefloor environment. He just posted a couple tunes on Soundcloud last night that are pretty fire and here the first five tunes, I'll let you guys listen to the rest of his stuff on his soundcloud page: http://soundcloud.com/djearlteckz
Earl- Takeova(the breakz ova by Dj Earl
Earl- ShakeItLikeAPro by Dj Earl
Earl- Yapps On Deck by Dj Earl
Earl Ft. Dj Lucky- Tek Takeova by Dj Earl
The next artist that im featuring is Gantz. He is a producer/dj from Istanbul, Turkey. He just announced that he will have a four track EP released on Fentplates, a UK dubstep label. His tunes have a dubstep feel while at the same time, walking on a thin line between house n jungle. You wont here too many crazy synths or wobbly bass from him, however he has a subbass that will cave in your chest matched with percussion that will give an instant jungle atmosphere. Here is his EP to be released on Fentplates:
Forthcoming Fentplates by Gantz
Last but not least is Distal. Hes a Producer / Dj from Atlanta that owns Embassy Recordings and had released tunes on Soul Jazz Records from the UK. In 2011 he will have tunes coming out on Techtonic and Ghettophiles to name a few. He makes music of all tempos and def doesnt keep himself confined to one style, which personally I love in a producer. You can listen to more of his stuff on his soundcloud(http://soundcloud.com/distal) or his on his label website http://embassyrecordings.com/

So far everytime I have played this song at a party it has made people go wild...figure I would post it here. Off Icicle's new album, Under the ice, due next month. Should be a big one!
So I'm going to start posting a couple tunes that have excitied me, blown my mind, or just plain made me dance every friday. Hopefully I will remember to post everyweek. This week Im going to start off with a couple artist that are totally new to me. The first is Boddika. He is one half of Instra:mental and has been making a impression on the dubstep scene at the moment. Although His tunes are called technoor electro, the dubstep community is eating up his tunes right now beacuse of the amount of bass and retro sound(not to mention he is an awesome producer and DJ). Regardless of what anyone is calling it its great. There really isnt much to be said about him that cant be read somewhere else so here are a couple of his tunes, mixes and links. Watch out for his future releases on Swamp81 and Nonplus+.

The second artist that I wanna give some props to is one out of Chicago, Illinois, DJ Earl. He is a Juke/Footwork artist that I think is highly underrated. He cleverly uses samples from older tunes that everyone will know when heard, however he does it in such a way that it taasteful and doesnt get tiring within the first 10sec of the tune. Even if your not into juke I would recommend this artist becuase his tunes can be jazzy, funky, hip-hopish, they have crisp drums, they switch up frequently and a very often melodic which gives of his tunes a great contrast. In a couple tunes he also flexes his midwest tehcno muscle by making tunes similar to the detroit techno from the 90's. When listening to a couple of his tunes back to back he really reminds me of a Live 909 set from Jeff Mills. My fav tune by Earl at the Moment is Scream. I saw it in a footwork video that once seen you can understand how this tune would make people that feel this type of music react. But enough talk lets get down to the tunes..

How I forgot to post My latest EP releases on here I dont know, but here they are.
The First of which is the Dark Chakra EP GRP001:
If you haven't read it already, I highly suggest you guys read Sven Vath's mission statement for 2011, his 30th year as a DJ. Now after 30 years of DJing Sven is still on the hunt for tunes that are not the average run of the mill tunes. "Finding music that qualitatively stands out from the masses – this is my mission" says Vath. In my opinion this is not an easy feat in todays music society. Within the past couple years between many different genres, it can be seen that once a genre becomes more accepted and listened to, it begins to grow but not necessarily in a good way. It becomes harder to find new tracks that aren't just a monotonous loop that goes on for 5min with minimal change. The funny thing is you can't pin-point it and say "well its only one type of genre thats like this or one particular artist". I feel that any genre that is new coming from underground roots that ends up becoming more "mainstream" some how goes downhill because of a flooding of boring mediocre tunes. So when Sven says he looks for music that stands out from the masses I know exactly what he means.
However in response to Vath's comments on digital Djing, I think he kinda contradicts himself by saying "For many years, DJs have not been interested in playback technology, as the only tool were turntables anyway. Mixing has been and still is essential for me. The challenge is to mix a set in a seamless way, especially when it lasts for several hours" and then goes on to say later "I could never imagine myself working with a 'sync button', because I would miss the tension and, besides that, something very essential: the fun of mixing! I'm also not a fan of effects and artificial breaks". I agree to an extent with Sven in the sense that mixing should be seamless and that it is definitely an essential skill and task of a DJ. However, I do think if one is going to use a sync button, the use of effects to create greater builds and transitions should be a given. The only reason I say this is that if one is to use sync, there is so much time to have more of a live aspect to your DJing rather then just going from one track to the next seamlessly.
